The photography festival of the 10th arrondissement of Paris is back from November 4th to December 1st. The Photographic Encounters of the 10th offer a fully free program with thirty exhibitions and thirty events over a month.
After over a year of a health crisis and cultural life on hold, this 9th edition of the Photographic Encounters of the 10th will feel like a return to life. Throughout November 2021, in public spaces and cultural venues of the 10th arrondissement, photography will more than ever settle in the district, once again marking a strong attachment of the district to photographic practice in all its forms.
This edition will reflect the territory, full of energy and colours, with multiple identities, open and inclusive. It will be sponsored by Marvin Bonheur, a young photographer who since 2014 has offered a sincere and caring perspective on life in urban and peri-urban areas. The 12 winners of the biennial will, as every year, be grouped for a large collective exhibition in the heart of the 10th.
The Photo Encounters aim to create photographic confrontations in everyday life to surprise, provoke thought, and promote accessibility to contemporary photography for all.
Around emblematic places of the 10th arrondissement, the hotspots, a sensitive map is recomposed that everyone is free to explore as they wish. These six hotspots, real areas of photographic creativity, offer a generous program of artistic proposals, meetings, and events. Exhibitions, screenings, workshops, meetings with artists, it's more than 30 free events. In short, a great photography festival, demanding but open to all!
The organization of the Photographic Encounters of the 10th has been entrusted since 2017 to the Fetart collective, which also organizes every year for 11 years the Circulation(s) festival, dedicated to young European photography at the Centquatre. A real springboard for young artists, Fetart has, since its creation, organized more than 40 exhibitions and presented more than 500 artists in France and internationally.
It is composed of an artistic committee of 12 independent curators specializing in emerging photography and a community of passionate volunteers with extensive expertise.
